Study Stash

Terms of use

Free to use, and yours to check.

Study Stash is free, open-source software. These are the few terms that come with it.

Last updated 28 September 2026

The licence

Study Stash is released under the MIT licence. You can use it, copy it, change it and share it, for free, as long as the copyright and licence notice come with it. The licence is the agreement between you and the authors; this page just says it plainly.

As is

Study Stash is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The authors aren't liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from the software or its use, as the MIT licence says in full.

  • Check your notes. Transcripts and notes are written by software and AI, which make mistakes. Check them against the lecture before relying on them for an exam or an assignment.
  • Keep your own backups. Your library lives on your own computers, so backing it up is up to you. Your notes are plain files in ~/.study-stash, easy to copy.

Recording

Record only where you're allowed to. Many schools, instructors and places require everyone's consent before a class or conversation is recorded, and some don't allow it at all. Following your school's rules and the law where you are is your responsibility.

Other services

Study Stash can work with services you choose and sign in to yourself: Canvas, Google Calendar, Microsoft calendars, Tailscale, and AI engines such as Ollama, Claude Code, Codex and Gemini. Your use of each is under that service's own terms, and of your school's for Canvas. Study Stash only reads from Canvas and your calendars. The privacy policy says what it reads and where it goes.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new date, and earlier versions stay in the site's history on GitHub.
